Privacy Policy

This policy applies to users of CramHub in the United States and Canada. CramHub is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older, or the age of majority in their province/state if higher. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will terminate the account and delete associated personal information as soon as reasonably practicable.

Content you upload — notes, homework photos, documents — is sent to Google's Gemini AI models solely to generate the summary, answer, or study material you requested. We do not use your content to train third-party AI models beyond what is technically necessary to generate your requested output in that session.

If you create or join a shared classroom, the study content in that classroom (notebooks, notes, quizzes, flashcards) becomes visible to other active members of that classroom. Your personal study progress — spaced-repetition schedules, quiz scores, mistake history, and any AI tutor conversations — is private to you and is never visible to other classroom members, including the classroom owner.

We share limited data with providers strictly as necessary for them to perform their function on our behalf: Supabase (database and file storage), Google Gemini (AI processing), Stripe, Inc. (payment processing, tax compliance, invoicing, and refunds on behalf of LifeSolutionApps), Google AdMob (advertising shown to Free-tier users only), and, where required, our professional advisers (legal and accounting) and authorities where compelled by law. Each provider is contractually and/or technically limited to the data necessary for its role.

Our service providers may process and store your information in the United States or other countries, which may have data protection laws different from those in your province or state of residence. Where we transfer personal information of Canadian residents outside Canada, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient service provider maintains a comparable level of protection through contractual and technical safeguards.

We retain your personal information as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law, to resolve disputes, or for legitimate business records (e.g., transaction history for tax/accounting purposes).

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted storage, row-level database access controls, and private (non-public) file storage. No system is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach involving your personal information that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and, where legally required, applicable regulators (including the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada), without undue delay.

Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights to know what personal information we hold, request deletion or correction, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Our use of Google AdMob for Free-tier advertising may constitute "sharing" under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and similar statutes in other states (e.g., Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut). CramHub complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for residents of Quebec, the Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (Law 25). You have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; withdraw consent at any time (subject to legal or contractual restrictions and to the fact that withdrawing consent may limit your ability to use the Service); and file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, for Quebec residents, the Commission d'accès à l'information. We rely on your consent, provided at signup, as the legal basis for processing your personal information; you may withdraw it at any time by deleting your account, understanding this will end your access to the Service. We do not send marketing communications without your express consent as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL); you may withdraw consent to marketing at any time via the unsubscribe link or by contacting us, without affecting your ability to use the Service.

CramHub uses AI to generate study materials and homework explanations. This content is generated to assist your studying and is not used to make any decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you (e.g., grading, admissions, or discipline decisions are made solely by your institution, never by us).

CramHub is an independent consumer application. We are not a "school official" under the U.S. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and we do not maintain official education records on behalf of any school, college, or university. CramHub is designed and marketed for personal use by individual students 18 and older, not as a school-procured service for K-12 students.

CramHub is not directed to, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 18. See Section 1.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of CramHub after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
